Dear Alumni and Friends,

As we promised, we have some great pictures of Casa Maderni, both during and after the magnificent restoration and preservation efforts. Please take some time to look them over. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as we enjoyed gathering them and posting them for your pleasure.

As many of you may already be aware, the Center for European Studies and Architecture is planning a celebration this summer to commemorate 10 years of educational excellence! We do hope you plan to attend and participate in marking this auspicious occasion. If you would like more information on this event, please feel free to download the brochure here or visit the CESA web site for more information.

Many of you have probably wondered about the purpose of this organization or possibly wondered…who we are or why we are doing this? To put it plainly, we are hoping to fill a void by creating a place for alumni to gather, re-kindle old friendships and perhaps form a few new ones. There is no doubt in any of our minds that Casa Maderni and Riva San Vitale are unique. Just as the programs’ physical founder and spiritual beacon Olivio Ferrari once stated, “This place is special”, so it is on these words we established this organization.

Some ideas that have come to mind for gatherings include tailgate parties in Blacksburg this fall and perhaps a few gatherings local to large concentrations of alumni. As it looks now, Northern Virginia appears to have the largest concentration of alumni (go figure!). Anyone interested in getting together with a few alumni and friends or perhaps forming a Northern Virginia Chapter, let us know! Many of you may be surprised as to the spread of our alumni base. We have alumni as far west as Colorado, as far north as New York, as far south as Florida and as far east as London, England!

Again, be sure to check out the new pictures on the site and put this summer’s anniversary celebration on your calendars!
